Dung Beetle Rolls Out

dung beetle azn

After a few years of running a 2332cc, turbocharged, air cooled flat four Ive decided its time to move on. With the kind of beating we put on our cars, it became extremely difficult to maintain the current engine and remain competitive. Being in the middle of the country definitely did not help, with all but a few of the local air cooled shops closing down I had to start looking elsewhere before we were too far behind the curve.

The air cooled community has been amazing to me and extremely supportive. The decision to move on was not an easy one to make. I am unsure of what direction the Dung Beetle will go but the goal is, as always, to go fast as possible on the street while remaining as much a streetcar as possible.

Stay tuned!!!

  • Man, you took it all the way into 2018 fast and furious, with what Ferdinand developed way back in the ’30’s. Wha…hey now…might AZN even be considering doing some ALL-out stuff mit der Jeep??

  • Grew up in Hawaii where you either had American muscle or VW’s. I saw a lot of V8’s get their doors blown off by Bugs. Simple, light, and cheap back then. Time marches on and 600hp isn’t enough to be number 10 on the list! Good luck and we’re all waiting to see what the next wild ride will be.

  • Go with a Revmaster 3000…I run one in my 57 bug and it makes over 700 whp..Still aircooled..

  • If you wanna stay competitive and reliable in the aircooled game you gotta ditch the haltech garbage and go port injection and megasquirt from companies like the dub shop also 2300 is small for a “competition” car. You should look in to a 3L type 4. Also running port injection and throttled bodies will cut way down on the foot print and heat making it more reliable.
