After a few years of running a 2332cc, turbocharged, air cooled flat four Ive decided its time to move on. With the kind of beating we put on our cars, it became extremely difficult to maintain the current engine and remain competitive. Being in the middle of the country definitely did not help, with all but a few of the local air cooled shops closing down I had to start looking elsewhere before we were too far behind the curve.
The air cooled community has been amazing to me and extremely supportive. The decision to move on was not an easy one to make. I am unsure of what direction the Dung Beetle will go but the goal is, as always, to go fast as possible on the street while remaining as much a streetcar as possible.
Stay tuned!!!
Nothing says sleeper more than a tesla.. lol honestly if you put the tesla running gear in no one will know what hit them… silent assassin… oh and gull wing doors too.. and a Flux capacitor? ??
Jeff, I totally understand..a 1930’s design that was, at it’s best, designed to put out 57 horsepower, it hard pressed to stay up with today’s technology. I am hard core air cooled VW, having worked for both of the US-based VW magazines, but to me, it’s the end of an era..
Go on give some time chopping the engine bay around and caress a single big ass supra engine In and give Shawn an ass whooping from me!!!!!!
Subaru power also jumped to mind for me as well. The Mighty Car Mods Miss Daisy project is a good example of what can be done.
Subaru! Turbo EJ257 with a closed deck block!
